We read every Swedish tech job ad — English-friendliness, sponsorship signals and stated pay — so the numbers on this page come from the source, not a survey.
Swedish tech pay is quoted monthly, in kronor, and is more compressed than the US equivalent — the spread between junior and senior is smaller, and the total package leans on benefits, pension and time rather than cash. The hard part is data: most Swedish ads don’t state a salary at all. So instead of a survey, this page reads the salary straight out of the ads that do quote one, and shows you the sample size so you know how much to trust each row.

Why is everything monthly, and how does it compare?
Swedish salaries are stated per month; multiply by 12 for the annual figure (there’s no 13th-month convention). Expect less cash than a comparable US role and more non-cash value.
A senior engineer’s monthly figure times twelve is the gross annual salary. What doesn’t show up in that number: statutory paid vacation, generous parental leave, occupational pension on top of the state one, and strong employment protection. Comparing only the headline salary to a US offer understates the Swedish package — sometimes by a lot.
How should you read these numbers?
As a floor on transparency, not the whole market. They come from the subset of employers open enough to post a figure, which skews the picture.
Two honest caveats. First, ads that state pay aren’t a random sample — they lean toward certain roles, seniorities and employers, so treat each row as indicative.
